Martha Reeves and The Vandellas in Concert
One of Motown’s brightest stars lights up the stage at The Meadows with an unforgettable show!Part of the hollywood summer event series
About Martha Reeves
Reeves got her big break when she and the Del-Phis (later to become the Vandellas) were enlisted to provide backing vocals for Marvin Gaye’s first hit record, 1962’s “Stubborn Kind of Fellow.” Motown exec William “Mickey” Stevenson realized her talent and quickly started recording singles with her in the lead role. Newly renamed Martha & the Vandellas, she and her counterparts had an R&B Top Five hit with their second single, “Come and Get These Memories.”
The rest was history. Martha & the Vandellas recorded a string of Motown classics, including "(Love Is Like A) Heat Wave," "Dancing in the Street," "Nowhere to Run," "I'm Ready for Love," "Jimmy Mack," and "Honey Chile."
