About Marcy Playground & Lit

Marcy Playground and Lit are two of the most original, creative, and popular alternative rock bands of the 90s. Both bands scored chart-topping singles and million-selling albums, and provided a coming-of-age soundtrack to Gen Xers at the end of the last millennium.

Marcy Playground is best known for their 1997 hit single “Sex and Candy,” which spent 15 weeks at number one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. Other singles like “Saint Joe on the School Bus” and “Sherry Fraser” helped define the band’s sound: minimalist, psychedelic, unorthodox, and completely original.

Exploding out of the late 90s’ Southern California pop punk scene, Lit made a huge impact with their 1999 Platinum album “A Place in the Sun.” This landmark long-player featured the hit single “My Own Worst Enemy,” which won a Billboard Music Award for Modern Rock Song of the Year and remains one of the most recognized rock hits of the last 20 years.
