about commodores
With seven No. 1 songs, a host of Top Ten hits and a vast catalog of music that includes more than 50 albums, The Commodores set the bar for excellence among R&B groups of the 1970s. These GRAMMY Winners have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and have been performing live for over 50 years!
The group, which began as a pastime for members who attended Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, received their big break when they were invited to open for the Jackson 5 in 1971. They parlayed that two-year support slot into a deal with Motown Records which generated the up-tempo Top Ten hit “Machine Gun” and its Top 20 follow-up “I Feel Sanctified.” Their third single, “Slippery When Wet,” became a bona fide No. 1 hit, and inside of 17 weeks, The Commodores were rocking the airwaves.
Today, The Commodores continue to blaze trails all over the world, thrilling audiences and proving why they’re one of the most successful vocal groups of all time.
Look for The Commodores to perform all their hits, including “Sail On,” “Brick House,” “Machine Gun,” “Easy,” “Just to Be Close to You,” “Nightshift,” “Three Times a Lady,” “Slippery When Wet,” “Too Hot Ta Trot” and “Still.”
